Copenhagen will experience widespread traffic disruptions from October 1 to 2 as Denmark hosts two high-profile European meetings. The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that key areas including the city centre, Amager, and Copenhagen Airport will be heavily affected.
On October 1, an EU summit on defence, security, and support for Ukraine will take place at Christiansborg Palace with leaders from all 27 EU countries. Later that evening, King Frederik X and Queen Mary will host a state dinner for European leaders at Amalienborg Palace. The following day, October 2, the European Political Community (EPC) will convene at the Bella Centre, bringing together representatives from around 50 countries, NATO, and EU institutions.
Authorities have warned of significant security measures and road closures from September 30 to October 2. Bus routes will be diverted, though metro services are expected to operate normally. Travellers, especially those heading to Copenhagen Airport, are advised to plan extra time for journeys.
Copenhagen Police will provide live updates on traffic changes via X and trafikinfo.dk. Officials have described the security operation as one of the largest in recent years, reflecting the scale of the gatherings.
