At the conclusion of Teknofest Blue Homeland, high-ranking officials in Türkiye underscored the nation’s dedication to bolstering its maritime security and advancing its defense capabilities. This initiative aligns with Türkiye’s broader aim of achieving technological independence. The significance of safeguarding Türkiye’s maritime interests, collectively known as the “Blue Homeland,” was highlighted by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, who pointed out the increased importance of these interests due to escalating geopolitical tensions, security threats, and rivalries over technologies, energy, and trade routes.
The event, held at the Gölcük Naval Shipyard, served as a platform to display a fleet of 37 vessels and four aircraft. Among the notable displays were the TCG Anadolu, TCG Istanbul frigate, TCG Derya, and the Murat Reis submarine. Additionally, the exhibition featured domestically developed unmanned maritime systems, showcasing Türkiye’s strides in maritime innovation.
Yılmaz emphasized Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to enhance its capacity to merge manned and unmanned systems through the adoption of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, advanced sensors, and secure communication networks. He highlighted the achievement of a localization rate exceeding 80% within the nation’s defense industry. This progress supports Türkiye’s aspiration to cement its status as a prominent global defense exporter.
Teknofest Blue Homeland also hosted competitions dedicated to unmanned underwater systems, maritime vehicles, and underwater technologies. These contests spotlighted Türkiye’s commitment to nurturing the talents of young engineers and innovators, encouraging them to contribute to the country’s evolving technological landscape.
