Ankara’s NATO Success Elevates Türkiye’s Global Business and Economic Influence

Emphasizing a bolstered international standing, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reflected on Türkiye’s successful hosting of the NATO Summit held on July 7–8. The summit, which brought together global leaders, including US President Donald Trump, was hailed by Erdoğan as a momentous accomplishment. He emphasized that the event underscored Türkiye’s ascending influence in the arena of global diplomacy.

One of the key outcomes of the summit, according to Erdoğan, was the consensus among NATO leaders on the critical need to dismantle obstacles hindering defense industry cooperation. Additionally, he revealed plans for NATO to set up a Counter-Unmanned Systems Centre of Excellence in Konya, a city in Türkiye, further solidifying Türkiye’s strategic role within the alliance.

The summit also featured a Defence Industry Forum, which drew nearly 1,000 participants. Erdoğan expressed optimism that the gathering would not only enhance Türkiye’s international image but also stimulate its tourism sector. He underscored the importance of such events in elevating Türkiye’s profile on the world stage.

Looking towards the future, Erdoğan expressed a desire to deepen ties with the United States, with an ambitious target of increasing bilateral trade to $100 billion. He reaffirmed Türkiye’s dedication to fostering peace and stability in the region, indicating a strong commitment to collaborative efforts with global partners.

In addition to these diplomatic endeavors, Erdoğan extended his condolences to Qatar following the death of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, highlighting Türkiye’s concern and support for regional allies during times of loss.
