Erdoğan applauded Meloni for this historic milestone, highlighting his confidence in the continued growth of collaborative relations between Türkiye and Italy. Meloni’s administration surpassed the record of 1,412 days, previously held by former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s second government from 2001 to 2005, by completing 1,413 consecutive days in office.
Giorgia Meloni, who took office as Italy’s first female prime minister in October 2022, has since fostered a robust partnership with Erdoğan. Their dynamic relationship has been marked by frequent dialogues on both bilateral and regional issues, showcasing a mutual dedication to enhancing cooperation. The two nations have made strides in various sectors, including trade, investment, defense, energy, and migration, while also aligning their efforts on regional challenges such as those in Libya and Ukraine.
In an effort to solidify their partnership, Erdoğan and Meloni co-chaired the fourth Türkiye-Italy Intergovernmental Summit held in Rome in April 2025. Most recently, the two leaders met on the margins of the NATO summit in Ankara in July.
