When the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer was released on March 17, few could have predicted just how seismic its impact would be. Within four days, it crossed one billion views — a benchmark no movie trailer had ever reached. The feat, confirmed by WaveMetrix, cements Brand New Day as a cultural phenomenon before it has even premiered in cinemas.

In the first 24 hours alone, the trailer accumulated 718.6 million views, a figure that surpassed all existing records with ease. Prior to this, Deadpool & Wolverine’s Super Bowl teaser had held the one-day record with 365 million views. Spider-Man: No Way Home’s trailer, previously the franchise benchmark at 355.5 million, also fell well short.

For context, Grand Theft Auto VI — whose trailer made history in gaming and entertainment — had 475 million first-day views. Brand New Day’s 718.6 million eclipsed even that, demonstrating the franchise’s extraordinary reach. WaveMetrix noted the four-day total sat comfortably at 1.1 billion views by Tuesday.

Arriving in theatres on July 31, Brand New Day is a direct sequel to No Way Home, which earned $1.9 billion worldwide. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Mark Ruffalo, and Jon Bernthal among others, the film represents Phase Six of the MCU. It will also release in India in six languages across all premium formats.

Audiences worldwide connected deeply with the trailer’s depiction of a lonely, forgotten Peter Parker. The emotional response spawned viral memes and fan-created nicknames for the film. As the fourth MCU Spider-Man entry, Brand New Day has demonstrated it may already be one of the most anticipated films in Marvel’s long history.
